Anúncio - Call for selection of candidates interested in submitting a PhD program proposal to Foundation for Science and Technology, from the Portugue

The PhD study, supervised by Dr David Fangueiro (ISA-UTL) and Prof. Cristina Cruz (FCUL), will be related with the influence of mycorrhizal fungi on the degradation/decomposition of organic materials, namely their influence on the carbon and nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorous) turnover and availability. The work will be a significant contribution to clarify the function of soils as sinks or sources of carbon under distinct environmental conditions and availabilities of limiting factors (nitrogen and phosphorus).
The candidate should have a master degree in Biology, Agronomy, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry (or related areas) with a final classification of at least 15,0 (scale of 0-20). We expect a candidate highly motivated, with experience in laboratorial and field experiments and some scientific publications. The position is open to citizens of all nationalities, proven that there are no legal constrains to obtain a Portuguese work Visa (citizens from the EU are of course excluded from this constrain).
The PhD work will be performed at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia – Universidade Técnica de Lisboa and at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa.
To apply, please send a single PDF file with the full CV including detailed scientific experience and a short statement explaining why the candidate is applying for this position to David Fangueiro (
dfangueiro@isa.utl.pt) until May 30th 2010. Future interviews might be necessary.
