Laboratory Animal Science (LAS)

In the context of the Advanced Courses Program of the Life and Health Science Research Institute (ICVS), a course on Laboratory Animal Science (LAS) will be held from 1 to 12 September 2008. The aim of this course is to prepare researchers for the appropriate use of animals in scientific experiments, as demanded by Portuguese/International legislation, and it will be held in the facilities of the ICVS at the University of Minho, Braga- Portugal.

The LAS course program is defined to fulfil the criteria for Category C personnel of the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations (FELASA) recommendations.

The course will be organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University The Netherlands.

The list of course speakers includes not only Portuguese specialist on LAS, but also specialist coming from the Department of Animals, Science and Society, of the above mentioned Faculty in The Netherlands.
